Justice for Children entered into partnership with Plan Denmark in Project titled "Community child protection in Bulawayo." The Project focuses in Bulawayo. The objectives of the project are to:

  • Strengthen advocacy capacity for JCT in order for them to professionally deal with child protection issues affecting Bulawayo community.
  • Promote a conducive non violent environment for community advocacy.
  • Strengthen active participation of children in community based child protection structures and systems.

Justice for Children entered into a partnership with World Education in Implementing Vana Bantwana (Gender based violence prevention and responses) Project. The project covers Harare and Mashonaland West. Its objectives are:

  • To build capacity of communities and local service providers to sustainably care for survivors of gender based violence.
  • To build capacity of Government of Zimbabwe Social services to sustainably care for gender based survivors.
  • To improve gender based violence response services.
  • To improve attitudes towards Gender based violence.

The project strengthened the capacity of Child Protection Committee members and paralegals to sustainably care for gender based violence survivors with support from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Gender and Community Development. Traditional leaders from Mashonaland West were also trained to build their capacity to handle gender based violence cases. Child protection committees were also trained in case management system to ensure that children receive comprehensive services. The project provides free legal services to gender based violence survivors in Chinhoyi and Harare. Community dialogues on Gender Based Violence were also conducted in Mhondoro and Budiriro.

Justice for Children entered into partnership with Oxfam in a Project titled "Ensuring the respect, protection and promotion of the rights of survivors of sexual abuse and violence." The Project focuses in Harare and Chitungwiza with an objective to:

  • Ensure the implementation of laws and policies that protect survivors and witnesses of sexual abuse and violence and accountability from stakeholders.

The project is aimed at documenting the realities of girl survivors of sexual abuse and violence. Justice for Children facilitated the production of a documentary in titled Raising her voice” in the form of a booklet and a DVD which showed the challenges faced by survivors of sexual abuse and violence. The documentary is being used as a tool to engage with law and policy makers and in trainings with stakeholders. The organisation has also scaled up its efforts to offer legal support to child survivors of abuse.

Justice for Children (JCT) organized a Children's Summit on the 4th of August 2009, which was attended by three hundred and twenty two (322) high school students from Harare, Chinhoyi, Chegutu and Bindura, teachers, officials from the Ministry of Education, the two co-chairpersons of the Parliamentary Select Committee, Honourables Mangwana and Mwonzora, the Deputy Minister of Education, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs and JCT stakeholders and partners.
